My research explores the emergence of sociopolitical complexities in the pre-colonial Yoruba world. I am particularly interested in the formation of internal frontiers in Southwestern Nigeria during the second millennium AD and how political contestations affected daily life in these peripheral spaces. Through archaeological and ethnohistorical resources, my research examines the materiality of colonialism and imperialism in the ancient Yoruba world.
